1.5 cups of melting chocolate
.5 cup of unpopped popcorn
6 Oreo cookies
This is an easy fun way to make dessert popcorn, which is really the only way I eat popcorn and a treat option I’ve been very into lately. Adding flavour to popcorn has minimal ingredients, it is fast and a great way to make something sweet without spending a lot of time in the kitchen. In this instance blue melting chocolate and oreos were used. I was going for a bit of an abstract Cookie Monster theme.
To pop the popcorn I use a stovetop knockoff of the whirly pop. Since buying this I’ve given up my air popper. Nothing against air poppers I just usually only make popcorn in large batches and this seems to do the trick. Also you should never use microwave popcorn, its more expensive, has a lot of extra chemicals and only saves you a couple minutes. Once the popcorn was done I moved it into a large bowl to make sure there weren’t any unpopped kernels, the larger the bowl the better.
To heat the chocolate use a double boiler until the chocolate runny enough to drizzle over the popcorn. If you want to go the microwave route, don’t overheat, I would take it out every 10-15 seconds to stir. Either way, once melted drizzle some chocolate into the popcorn and mix it up to the desired coverage, repeat until you are out of chocolate, then mix in the Oreos. Spread the mix into a roasting pan or on cookie sheets to set for around 15 minutes then enjoy!
