Kellogg’s Pop Tart Game

Have you ever wished breakfast was turned in a card game? Then this one is for you. I found this at Dollarama and couldn’t resist it for the price. I have a couple of the small Funko card games and this fits in well with that collection. In the game you are essentially collecting pop tarts and trying to get bonus combos to get the most points.

Like the other small Funko card games, this is a simple game. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Most of the time you will be buying these games for the theme anyways. I would definitely recommend this as a quirky gift for any Pop Tart lover.

For components the box sort of looks like a box of pop tarts and the inside is all silver which is a nice touch. The game is just cards and the quality seems fine. The theme is cute works for the game.

In the game you are manipulating the line of Pop Tarts to get the cards you want. There isn’t a lot of replay ability. It is a very light game, but if you are looking for something small to bring with you or something quick, this will do.

Pop-Tarts was designed by Prospero Hall and published by Funko Games. It is for 2-6 Players ages 13 and older and takes 15 minutes to play.

Set Up

Shuffle the Pop Tart Cards deck and deal a line of seven cards face up on the table.

Place the Toaster card on the left end of the line and the freezer on the right side of the line.

Shuffle the white Action Cards and deal three to each player.

Give each player a Plate and reference card.

Place the action card deck above the line.

Place the arrow card below the centre card pointing towards either the freezer or toaster.

Shuffle the blue bonus cards and display them face up above the line. Place the rest of the bonus deck in a pile above the line.

Game Setup

How to Play

Be the first to eat 30 points worth of Pop Tarts. How you eat your Pop Tarts will determine how many points you get. You will use cards to rearrange the line and get them to your plate.

On your turn play up to 3 action cards.

Plate the Pop Tart card at the front of the line where the arrow is pointing. Add it to your plate on the side that matches if it was frozen or toasted. Then move the three cards at the front of the line over and add a new Pop Tart to the middle.

Pop Tart Cards

You then can choose to eat any of the Pop Tart cards on your plate. To eat you remove the pop tart and place it to the side and score the number of points on the card. You can only have a maximum of four cards on your plate at a time. You can also choose not to eat on your turn.

If you eat a set of Pop Tart cards that matches one of the bonus cards and is prepared the same way as on the bonus card, you get to take the bonus card and place it in the score pile. Bonus cards are worth 5 points. Draw a new card to replace it.

Bonus card examples

At the end of the turn you can discard any Action cards from their hand and draw back up to three.

Once a player has 30 points the game continues until it gets to the person with the first player card. Then the scores are added and the player with the most points wins. Tie goes to the player with the most Bonus Cards.

Now the obvious question, do people really eat pop tarts frozen?

Yum!
